Writing Commons is a free, online textbook. As outlined by the Site Map, Writing Common provides a comprehensive introduction to academic writing. It covers all of the topics addressed by traditional first-year composition textbooks: writing strategies, information literacy, research methods, citation style. The core of this project is Professor Joseph Moxley's College Writing Online, which was originally published by Longman/Pearson. In 2004 this work was awarded the Distinguished Book Award from Computers and Composition, an international journal.
