Zhu Xi (1130‒1200) was a Song Confucian scholar who became the leading figure of the School of Principle and the most influential Neo-Confucian in China. Among his contributions were his annotations to the Analects of Confucius, the Mencius, the Great Learning, and the Doctrine of the Mean. He is also known for his emphasis on the investigation of things, the synthesis of all fundamental Confucian concepts, and promotion of daily meditation.
