Situated in the northeast of Yunnan Province and bordered by Guizhou and Sichuan Provinces, Zhaotong is at the juncture of the Yunling Plateau and the Sichuan Basin, a typical mountainous landform with great differences of altitude and surrounded by mountains and valleys.
