Tales by Aesop, commonly known as Aesop's Fables, are a favorite for children's instruction the world over, and Bulgaria is no exception. The first published Bulgarian translations of the fables are found in Petŭr Beron's Fish Primer of 1824, but the first separate publication devoted just to Aesop's Fables was an 1852 compilation by Petko Slaveikov.
