Description

Heinrich Hoffmann, a Frankfurt medical doctor and writer, published Lustige Geschichten und drollige Bilder (Funny stories and droll pictures) in 1845 using the pen name "Reimerich Kinderlieb." Later this book gained international fame under the title it is known by today: Der Struwwelpeter (Slovenly Peter). A second edition of 5,000 copies was printed in 1846. This edition, presented here, contains two additional tales, "Die gar traurige Geschichte mit dem Feuerzeug" (The dreadful story of the matches) and "Die Geschichte von dem Zappel-Philipp" (The story of fidgety Philip).
