Povestvovanie o Sibiri (Narrative on Siberia) contains the printed text of a Latin manuscript about the history and culture of Siberia compiled around 1680. The author was Yurii Krizhanich, a Catholic missionary from Croatia who traveled to Russia in 1659 on an early Pan-Slavic mission aimed at helping unite the different Slavic nations under the Russian tsar as a bulwark against Protestant Germany and Muslim Turkey.
