This book, published in Russian in Kiev (present-day Ukraine) in 1890, describes the life and work of Bishop Vladimir (1852‒1931), who served as the head of the Russian Orthodox mission to North America in the years 1888−91. Vladimir’s appointment to the post on December 20, 1887, ended a six-year period during which the mission had been governed from Saint Petersburg.
